Our MEDIA Project turns 1 Year!

The last year was great because we worked closely with our amazing consortium partners. We’re really happy that MEDIA brought together a great team, all working towards big goals. ✨ Achievements over the year ✨• We had a great start with a Kickoff meeting in Moldova, laying the groundwork for future collaboration and idea exchange. • We held a series of management meetings in Latvia and Armenia, each bringing us closer representatives from 13 partner organisation all over the world • At least 70 persons increased their knowledge and capacities during study visits to Germany, Finland, and Latvia, drawing inspiration and best practices to integrate into our project on distance education. • We developed 16 valuable results for key work packages, demonstrating our commitment to results and quality.Our journey to creating quality online education began with research about EdTech market insights to innovative teaching-learning practices. We reflected the result of our efforts in a report on the latest generation of digital potential and practices among EU partners. It and other interesting information can be found in more detail on the project website www.mediaera.online. • One of our tasks is to create a Media Labs- centres for creating video lessons and educational webinars, online broadcasts, podcasts and other. And if you’re interested in learning how such a facility can be created and what equipment is needed, you can learn the necessary knowledge from our report on the current requirements for online learning infrastructure. Our 6 Interuniversity MEDIA centers from 6 universities in Armenia and Moldova are created precisely according to these principles specified in the document. • Ethics and standards matter to all consortium members! Our commitment to quality is reflected in the adoption of Codes of Ethics and Institutional Standards at 6 institutions. 🤝🌐 Ensuring a respectful and academically sound digital environment for everyone. • We started our first teaching-learning activities with “Learning Analitics” cours 🚀 Looking ahead 🚀 We have three exciting years ahead to work on our project, and we’re really enthusiastic about what we’ll do next. The MEDIA Project’s Learning Analytics Course launch

The MEDIA Project’s Learning Analytics Course launch We’re thrilled to announce that, as part of the MEDIA project, a series of courses by our European partners will soon commence, with “Learning Analytics” leading the way.  This exclusive course, set for February 5th to May 3rd, 2024, with 6 hours per week, is specifically tailored for university teachers and doctoral students from project partner institutions in Moldova and Armenia. It will be delivered in a blended synchronous/asynchronous format, offering flexibility and engagement.  Participants will earn 3 ECTS credits through an enriching blend of learning analytics, tool selection and adaptation, and a train-the-trainer approach for online tool customization.  Key modules include Data Analysis, Moodle Reports, Social Network Analysis, and Natural Language Processing, facilitated by experts from Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland. It emphasizes the importance of a specialist’s proficiency in mastering sound design and visualization tools in today’s media landscape. Additionally, the course provides theoretical knowledge about the artistic and psychological aspects of filmmaking and editing. Structure Introduction to Recording and Filming Fundamentals: Preliminary presentation of the basics of recording and filming. Understanding different shot sizes: big, medium, general plans. Exploring perspective in video shooting. Identifying right and wrong shots. Techniques to avoid video recording mistakes, including correct and incorrect use of video tools such as zoom, panorama, lighting, movement, and tripods. Types of cameras according to the target shooting. Testing different camera light sensitivity and light perception modes; Basic Video Editing and Processing: Introduction to essential programs for processing recorded and filmed material. Developing an assembly mentality. Techniques for video editing assembly. Understanding the sense of space in filmmaking. At the end of the course, participants will be able to: Visualize and distinguish the fundamental concepts and principles of recording and filming. Define artistic and informative recording techniques and recording systems. Apply the theoretical knowledge acquired during the course to professional activities. About the Speaker:  Holding both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in journalism from Yerevan State University, as well as a second master’s degree from the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs, Ruzan’s academic foundation is impressive. During her academic years, Ruzan Gishyan garnered practical experience as a reporter for various online publications and notably for the news program of Yerkir Media TV Company. The span of her professional journey also includes substantial contributions to Radio Free Europe Radio Liberty’s Armenian Service, where she excelled as a multimedia journalist, announcer, and producer from 2014 to 2019. Currently Ruzan Gishyan is an accomplished professional who has been an integral part of Chaikhana media for approximately four years, serving as the Armenian media manager responsible for curating texts and photos.

She has worked for IWPR, International Alert, BBC Media Action, ChaiKhana.media, and has contributed as a fixer to international reporting, including German National Radio, Spiegel, Frankfurter Allgemeine, Deutsche Welle, etc. Gayane is a media educator with about 10 years of experience, delivering workshops and mentoring for BBC Media Action projects, as well as Armenian Red Cross Society, Interlink Academy (Germany), science popularization initiative Gituzh (Armenia), and others.  Workshop Overview: After this webinar, our target audience will be able to create short video stories (including Reels and YouTube shorts) about their projects/initiatives. Structure: Storytelling basics (hero’s journey, what makes the story interesting) How to tell the story through reels (best examples) Practical assignment: build a storyboard for the story. Smartphone as a tool of a storyteller (how to enhance the technical potential of the phone – settings, additional lenses, stabilizers, microphones, applications, etc.) Frame composition (mobile photo/video): Rule of Thirds, Symmetry, Leading Lines, Layers, etc. Light in photography and videography, how to improve light using materials at hand (smartphone light, white paper, etc.) How to work with sound (microphone types, inside and outside filming, what you can improve with software) Homework assignment: film a reel based on the storyboard assignment and get feedback from Gayane and Ruzan.

DIVING INTO DIGITAL ENLIGHTENMENT: THE MEDIA PROJECT UNFOLDS IN ARMENIA!  From September 3rd to 8th, the scenic setting of Armenia’s National Polytechnic University echoed with the sounds of innovative discussions, breakthroughs, and collaborative engagements. The gathering? The much-anticipated Management Meeting for the Media Project. Key Highlights: Hand-in-Hand Theory and Practice: At the core of the Media Project is a groundbreaking approach where theoretical frameworks and practical applications come together seamlessly. This symbiotic relationship is forging a path for legislation concerning microcredit programs. Unlike many legislative endeavors that are often detached from on-ground realities, this initiative is set to be both functional and effective. Why? Because it’s rooted in practical examples and partner programs. This integration ensures that the strategies formulated are not just theoretical constructs but actionable plans derived from real-world scenarios. Vibrant and Productive Deliberations: The meeting witnessed intense, spirited discussions covering all packages of the project, paving the way for concrete strategies and action plans. Entrepreneurship in Digital Arts: Crafting a dynamic entrepreneurship program in the captivating world of digital arts. As creativity collides with technology, we are redefining possibilities. Amplifying Learning Analytics: An in-depth exploration into learning analytics, working on strategies that truly resonate with the current educational needs. Expanding Digital Learning Frontiers: Exchanging insights with international partners to advance our collective understanding of digital media, learning analytics, and several other emerging fields. The collaborative spirit was palpable, with every partner contributing to the shared vision. In wrapping up, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to the representatives of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia and the leadership of the Media Project. Samvel Hovhannisyan, a representative from our partner NGO Creativity, conducted an inspiring and incredibly useful masterclass. The event took place online at ZOOM, showing us once again how seamless collaboration can happen no matter where we are. The primary aim? To introduce our project partners to the incredible utility of ClickUp, a digital tool poised to streamline our work and enhance our productivity. In the masterclass, Samvel expertly navigated us through the many functionalities of ClickUp. From project management and task tracking to communication and document storage, he showcased how this tool can be adapted to our project needs, and how it could become a cornerstone of our operations. The excitement, curiosity, and enthusiasm shown by all participants were truly infectious.
